Rear Brake Cylinder

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Kato, Jun 26, 2015.

  1. Two rear cylinders the only obvious difference being the second one is threaded instead of the usual push fitting, things get a lot different when it comes to the price though £50 for the top cylinder and £345 for the second

So what is the extra cost surely it can't just be a tapped union, any reason I can't by the cheap one and thread it as I need???

  2. sorry Kato replied in too much of a hurry - I obviously realise now no bleed nipple necessary ! Have previously tapped and used copper washer Flat face seal myself with no problems whatsoever. A lot of Brembo calipers have an option for either countersunk seal at bottom of port or flat face copper seal these days.

  3. If the metal is thick enough, which it looks like it is, you could always have an insert machined up and inserted to give you a screwed and countersunk thread. A decent machine shop could always do that if the option above is not viable.

  4. Why worry...........just buy the cheaper one........

Surely the push fit angled union isn't under pressure, it's only the gravity feed from the remote reservoir.......

..........and the blue blanking plug is where the hose connection union goes.......??

  5. Because it's not used for the remote reservoir which on my bike is up front attached to the thumb brake (which is also the master cylinder) hence why I want another cylinder with threaded fitting, I will rebuild the one I have but its tatty so i wanted a new one

Same as this Ducati OEM-parts :: Ducati OEM-parts :: others :: DUCATI thumb-brake Brembo PS 13 CNC Doohan

  6. Be cheaper to get a new/another hand/foot so you can use a proper brake................;)
