1200 Rear Brake Pin Question

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Bugsbunny, Sep 17, 2016.

  1. Hi

Trying to change pad on rear.

Take circlip off on exhaust side - done.
Then take pin out, however on the chain side there is nothing to pull pin do i tap it out from the other side?
(its a bit stiff as probably not been done for 2 years) but judt wanted to know before going in with wd 40 and hammer...

Also any other tips? Apparently i wil need to take caliper off to move pistons to get new pads which is a bit concerning...

    Thanks

  2. soooo yes hammer pin out with a punch...
then off etc as per. manual and clip putting back was fun.

anyway.. omg new pads make an amazing difference in braking and old ones not really 3 qtrs gone, guess these new brembo sinthered compound better..

  3. Well done Bugs, how'd you get the pistons pushed back afterwards ?

  4. Taking the rear caliper not that difficult just awkward, just make sure that you have good allen key inserted fully and use a quick twist motion to get the 2 bolts off as its behind the chain inside the wheel space.

Pads were a little difficult but achievable with a bit of patience and with a little persistent strong pressure using the old pad each piston went back eventually very slooooowwly.

    all in all quite achievable.
