1200 Rear Hub Bearing

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Misterpink, Apr 24, 2019.

  1. Looking to do some trips this year andhad the bike in for its annual service at Ducati Proteam and asked Alec to take a look at the rear hub. Well, it was a bugger to get off and had some road crap in it, but not too bad......even though it's a 2010 bike it's got low mileage, and only one previous owner who was fastidious and probably didn't see rain.
So, caught it before it could really damage things, my advice is to get your hub checked at regular intervals. Could be a nasty thing to happen on a long trip.
You can see my hub on the Ducati Proteam Facebook page.

  2. Hub inspection is now part of the Desmo service for single-sided swinging arm models at 15,000 or 18,000 miles, dependent on the year/model of the bike.

  3. Took 2 hours to get off i hear.

  4. 2013 with 14k was full with some large stones.
There are 3 entry points in the swingarm. Stainless mesh and sugary fitted now. I opted on letting any water in and being able to wash it out now and again. Drilled out the drain hole to 5.5mm. So stop large debris in.
