Rear Wheel Nut Size On An 1198?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ian, Aug 10, 2016.

  1. Hi,
does anybody have a size for the rear wheel nut on an 1198 please? It's rear pads time!

    Thanks, Ian

  2. IIRC it's a 56 bi hex. Might be wrong though.

  3. 56mm bi hex. Thanks!

  4. Can't you change the pads with the wheel in place?

  7. Definitely 55 mm on the 1098 SF.

  8. Seems to be 55mm....
    A Google search agrees!

    Thanks again folks!

(I'm not sure if the pads can be changed with the wheel on, I'm going to do a bit of cleaning as well while I'm at it!)

  9. Sealey S34/55 walldrive socket 55mm 3/4"sq drive - PVRDirect

These will be much stronger than the bike-specific socket tools and they'll stand up to use with a 240v impact driver (which mine needs to get it undone).
Some people get the chamfer milled off the the face of the socket so it sits down more securely on the thin wheel nut. Personally I've had no problem with mine the way it is and my impact driver is quite brutal.
    Don't forget a 3/4" drive adaptor if you've only got a 1/2" drive wrench.
