1200 DVT Rear Wheel Nut Torque Setting?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by sparky boy, Feb 16, 2017.

  1. Hi all,

    2016 1200S DVT:
I've a punctured rear tyre which needs replacing. I've searched for the rear wheel nut torque setting but can't find it (although 230nm appeared somewhere but this seems mighty high), does anyone know for sure what it should be please?

    Thanks in advance...

  2. 230Nm is the correct figure. Most people have difficulty in undoing the nut and resort to all sorts of methods. I along with a few others use a rattle gun, either air or battery. Mine is a DeWalt 18v 320Nm beast that works well on my Multistrada and my 1098R. Andy

  3. Android,

Can you expand on the Rattle Gun? I was just about to purchase a torque wrench for removing the rear wheeel nut but this sounds a better option.

  4. 320Nm... that not overdoing it a bit?

  5. rattle gun to take it off and a torque wrench to put it back on. Don't get them mixed up.

  9. My apologies Ian but I mssed your post. As explained, an impact wrench is the ideal tool for the high torque nuts on the Ducati. Either air or battery, it just so happens I'm a DeWalt fan and my local stockist was able to supply me with a factory refurbished warranty return at less than half price so a bit of a no brainer. 320Nm might seem a bit excessive but with a Multistrada 1200, a 1098R and a Diavel to attend to, it's been a godsend. Andy

  10. "Rattle gun" ? really?

  11. Que? That's the generic slang.

  12. Andy, are you saying you tighten your wheel nuts to 320Nm....? :eek:penmouth::eek:penmouth:

  13. Hijacked!

    Thanks for the answer Andy.

  14. Noooooooo :Nailbiting: ! I only use the DeWalt to loosen the nut, got a f**k off big 400Nm torque wrench to do it up to 230Nm. Bigger torque wrench, better leverage so bike in 2nd gear, foot on the rear brake and an easy pull. Andy
