Recomendation For Knee Specialist Sought

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Desmoboy, Nov 1, 2018.

  1. I've discovered that i cannot ride my multistrada for more than 30 minutes before i get a pain behind my right knee. This might just be age related so i am going to get an MRI scan and try to find out if its fixable.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a Knee specialist surgeon that they have first hand experience of please.
I live in hertfordshire so would prefer not to have to travel to inverness or Corwall.

  6. I want an MRI in the first instance so that i know what i am dealing with. Not that i'd be able to interpret the result but a simple X-ray wont get it done.
If its just an age thing my biking days are probably done.

  7. I’ve just taken SWMBO to see a specialist doctor this evening about her knee. She’s now got a MRI scan booked for 10th November.

  8. Hope she's not claustrophobic ET.

  9. Thing is, she is. They’ve advised her to go to the gp and get a sedative to take before she goes. :p

  11. Try Dr Briggs who used to work from Spire Hospital in Harpenden among other places, he may still do but it has been some years since my op. Apparently one of the top knee surgeons around.

  12. In the old days, you could get two 'ape knees for a penny...

  13. most machines aren't that long/deep now, and should be better as it's the knee not the head or chest

  14. One of the best is Prof Haddad, superb surgeon. I went to see him to have my Hamstrings re-attached, no one in the NW was confident in doing it!!

  16. I'd recommend a chiropractor as a MRI will mean you need to pay for 'interpretations'. Especially if you are going private health-care to speed things up. If you have a trapped nerve it'll be in the spinal column.

  17. The first time I had an MRI on my knee I was put totally in the machine, it was at this point I discovered I was claustrophobic, I had bad nightmares for many months afterwards and now I can't even watch somebody squeezing through a narrow gap on the tv.
