Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for alternate towns to stay in for a Le Mans trip (which is now all booked up for late May MGP weekend...)? Thinking Caen (might be a bit of a hack?) or anyone know if Alençon is pleasant enough? We're now thinking as long as the town/city has a nice range of bars/restaurants, good atmosphere, then if we can luck in and also get a great road into/out of LM then that might be better than staying in a long-lost business hotel on the outskirts of LM itself...
We stayed in a small biker friendly B&B in Vendome, southeast of Le Mans. Good ride into the track with only the last few km an A road. We found a good bar and a very good restaurant that we were happy to use the whole weekend. Andy
Wife and I used to spend a week at a litle town called Brionne northh of Le Mans. our stay always semed to fall on the weekend of the 24 hours and was a popular place for them
We stayed in a static caravan on the Ile Offard at Samur. It was a long time ago but from memory it was a great spot.
Thanks all. One of the party found somewhere in Bagnoles de l'Orne which is little town in a national park, equi-distant between Caen and LM. Happy days.
