Hi all My current (no pun intended) battery has died, showing 10v. Numax lead acid. It's been on sporadic charging while the bike has been on SORN this year Before I buy another, is it worth investing in AGM? Are they much better? Any recommendations?
My experience of AGMs (motobatt) is they work great until they don’t ie seem to have sudden fail mode rather than a gradual decline a normal wet lead acid has. Other than that they seem to work great on my 900SL . I would also check your battery cables /earths & reg rec & it’s wiring are in fine fettle as if not that can kill batteries just as much as age.
I recently swapped out my lead acid to an AGM type. Not having to keep topping up the wet cells when on maintenance/ trickle feed is a bonus. Check out the CCA ( cold cranking amps) when making your decision
