Recommended Paint Shops?

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by Twin-pipe, Nov 5, 2018.

  1. There appears to be less and less Paint Shops willing to undertake painting Bike parts in my area (Home Counties, Berks, Hants, Surrey, Sussex) "Too fiddly" "not worth my while" are typical comments received.
Anyone happy to recommend a quality coach works or private spray shop willing to undertake work for a fair price?

  2. Image Custom Design in Camberley are bike painting specialists, they are not cheap but their quality is IMO worth what they ask. Andy

  3. Appreciate that - I will give them a call and see what they come back with

  4. If bristol ain't to far, tjc design did a fantastic job on my 748 for £1100...

  5. I have used Splash Of Kolour in Yapton, near Bognor Regis. https://www.facebook.com/SplashOfKolour/
Shaun did some repairs and paintwork on my Merc and he resprayed my friend's VX220. I've seen various pieces of work that he has done and it is all very good. He is a bit of a perfectionist which isn't a bad thing for someone with his job. He has painted bikes and he is a biker. He will be painting my SF848 Porsche Atlas Grey soon.

  6. Thanks for the recommendations to date - Im now awaiting costs (fingers crossed)
(Im slightly surprised theres not a listing for Ducati / Bike friendly Paint shops on this site - unless Ive missed it?)

  7. Ive received a quote for £800+vat (respray with strip) a monster tank, bikini fairing and seat cowl? Felt a bit steep to me but havent had anything done in years - any views / recommendations?

  8. I use Brookfield Restoration in Hinckley really are excellent not cheap but there work is first class

  9. Does sound a bit steep. I use a specialist vintage car sprayer in Newbury for my track fairings and I keep the cost down by doing all the surface preparation myself and choosing a colour that he is currently using on a commercial job. Got a couple of sets of panels done in Ford Frozen White which is the most popular white van man colour involved in an accident around here. A set of panels, front fairing and seat usually come in at about £150. Andy

  10. Goes without saying that you “pay for quality”. However, i’ve Just been quoted £800 for my carbon tank stripping, repainting with the Infostrada and PlayStation controller air brushing on. Also included in the price is painting 2 pairs or mirrors.
    This is from Rage designs.

I think you might be better getting another quote just to confirm your suspicions...
A top quality tank refurb is normally £300 to £400.

  11. I need to get the whole 916 repainted at some time...looks like i need to save up my pennies:(

  12. Appreciate the comments guys - I used to get a tank done with decals applied and lacquered for £150 - £200 a couple of years back with no prep. In this instance I was doing the prep and whilst I appreciate that painting the strip would add a bit I wasnt sure this was a fair price.
if there's any more recommendations for south london / surrey / hampshire I'd appreciate it

  13. IMG_3852.JPG I've just paid dream machine £1200 for a complete resprayed of my CBR600 the results are stunning yes extremely expensive but worth it

  17. I'm getting my Honda race bike repainted by rapier paints in hull, he's quality.

  18. I use Liquid Customs in Widnes which is a bit far for you I think. He does painting and Hydro dipping and he is very reasonably priced.
