Anyone got any information on registering my 98 TS with the DVLA to get it on the road ? I've applied for a V55/5 form which according to the DVLA is to register a used vehicle, including rebuilt vehicles, used imported vehicles and older vehicles that have never been registered. Anyone done this that can guide me through the process. What's the rules on lights, indicators, mirrors etc. Also I have absolutely no paperwork with the bike at all so other than the ebay ad (!) there is no way of knowing the date unless there is a frame / or chassis number I can trace. Thanks
If you join the Ducati Owners Club, you will gain access to their bike dating service. Send all the details to their chap (Peter Ward), with photos of all the frame and engine numbers you can find on the bike, and he will supply a document confirming the date of manufacture - which DVLA will probably accept.
be interested to know how you get on, I am a DOCGB member anyway, have you done a NOVA form, this is pretty important for registering an imported bike tax wise, heres a pic of my 175TS which I will be playing with in due coarse, you have any pics? ; )
Ok so plans for registering are a foot, I also need the NOVA form so thanks for the tip above, hoping there is no vat bill for it ! here's some pics, minus a few bits (fender, chain guard) but I have these...............
nice pics ta , looks like a good basis for a project, been giving mine a good looking over and think I need a new petrol tank, looks like it has some kind of resin inside, must have been leaking at sometime though don't think its been on the road in 30 years, mine also has a handmade wooden battery box , the carbon fibre of it day, no doubt : )
Mine kind of runs but needs the original carb putting on and cleaning / setting up right. I'm in 2 minds though whether to build something that looks a bit like this instead of a classic restore though............... The only permanent modification I'd have to make is chopping the seat subframe down but could keep the chopped bit and plug and reweld if ever I or anyone wanted to go back to OEM.
For any bike that old, originality as far as practicable is always better than modification (unless it was modified in period, and maybe not even then). IMHO
Not sure anyone on here will be interested in this but it is going up for sale when I get a chance to get the advert done. It's nearly there, will be road registered for the sale and runs and rides. The engine set up still needs some work I think, it could run better but my limited talents have taken it as far as I can get it ! It'll be up for sale at £1500 so send me a message if you are interested.
