Hi Gang This alarm from 2003 keeps causing issues with starting etc. I insured the bike without it and want it gone. The alarm had the following connections:- - multiple connections to the rear indicators. Removed and indicators function normally. - a looped in connection to the starter solenoid. Removed and orginal connection rejoined. Bike starter works. - a cable plugged into the main loom. When the alarm is removed the residual connector is circled red in attached photo. There seems to be nothing to connect it to Not conected to the alarm but loose are a yellow wire and a white connector circled blue and green in the photo The bike cranks, there is a healthy spark, the fuel pump does not make any noise but both realsy by the CPU click in. Ideas? Thanks Nick
I bypassed mine. Theres a Youtube vid on how to do it. You essentially open the box and add a couple of short bypass loops to the terminal. I then left it where it was as its intertwined in the loom. But its gone. My trouble was I had one dodgy fob and couldnt get another fob to marry. So I bypassed it. I'll look for the vid and post it.
I had my Datatool removed from my F4S last year, mainly because it alarmed at awkward moments like halfway through a fuel fill up. I had to get someone else to do it for me and they were not smiling afterwards. It made no difference to my insurance.
Are the two wires into the connector circled in red the same colours? They look Brown/White. If so they probably need linking.
I'd check voltage at those (clearly DIY additions) two with ignition on & off. Perhaps one is an 'accessory' 12V connection so may be worth keeping...
Wiring colours could be different, but on my 98 SPS the Brown & White wire is the fuel pump live feed.
Thanks Gang I linked the 2 wires that were brown and white in the red circled connector and the bike is perfect. I guess than means there is normally a plug in that connect them.
Buy these and make up a link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric...=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 It will look OEM then.
That connector is a Ducati wired one for an alarm. They would normally be bridged inside the alarm with the bridge open/closed depending on alarm status. You’ve done the right thing by bridging them
I just bought a replacement section of the wiring loom and swapped that out. Couldn’t be arsed with opening up the old loom and tracing wires, resplicing etc. I just wanted all traces of it gone.
