1200 DVT Removing Bits

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by BigAlan, Aug 28, 2017.

  1. Getting into the bike now, bits coming as we speak, have removed rear hugger and that big lump at the rear but how do I get the small chain guard off? I have undone the bolt but it seems to be clipped in somehow at the front and I don't want to lever it and break it.

    Thanks

  2. You'll regret taking the hugger and crud catcher off when it rains!

  3. Oh it's going back on sure enough, after it's been carbon dipped locally. No way would I run the bike without all the stuff on.

    Thanks for the info.

  4. The image is not the same as the 2016 bike, try as I can I can't find a way to get it off without possible busting it, and I won't be doing this.

  5. Looks like there is two bolts, also does it need a gentle push from the rear.

I've a feeling there's a locating spigot towards the front.

  6. Actually, looking at the fiche, there appears to be another bolt that you access from the other side.

Looks like the wheel has to come off but I can't tell from the diagram. I'd look myself but my bike is currently 4000 miles away!

  7. I think you may well be right about the wheel coming off and as I don't yet have the correct fifty five millimetre socket I won't attempt anything else.

    Thanks
