Removing Tyres By Hand?

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by ck_uk, Apr 29, 2019.

  1. I want to get my wheels stripped and re-powder coated. Is it possible to remove the tyres by hand, using tyre levers? Presumably rim protectors are a must.

Or just take them to a motorcycle shop and get them to do it?

  2. Take it to a garage, for what it will cost it will be worth not having the serious hassle and skinned knuckles.

  3. There's plenty of us fit our own tires, there's a few threads on here with good info.

  4. My powder coater of choice, Steve Turner (TPCS, Melksham, Wiltshire), has all the kit to remove tyres and oil seals/wheel bearings. Unlike oven curing wet paint, the powder coating heat process is too high for the bearings to survive intact. Andy
