Renthal alignment issue ?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Spoonz, Dec 7, 2012.

  1. Having embarked on a winter clean i noticed my front sprocket on the 848 shows quite a lot of side wear (on the outer side). This only seems to have appeared since i fitted the Renthal carrier and Sprocket. Rear sprocket is wearing normally.
Thinking i have an alignment issue but can only think it is a the carrier or sprocket. Everything is fitted where it should be and tight.

Anyone seen similar issues with aftermarket carriers ?

  2. Like DHL perhaps??????????????
    Their service is shocking!!!

  3. As it's Friday dodgy jokes are ok but that one only just scraped through as dodgy. Any worse and Rob might have had you shot.

    Must try harder.

  4. Yes Sir.........

  5. Is it an alignment issue if only one sprocket is worn?

  6. That would be my line of thinking.. is the wheel in the swing ARM straight?

  7. Good question it just occurred to me instantly at the time that it was. The side wear was not there with the oem rear fitted over 7.5 k miles but has appeared in 1.5 k with the renthal. The teeth have no real wear, just the side looks abnormaly worn.

The chain had a couple of tight spots and i'm just replacing that, so maybe it's more than alignment alone.

  8. Nice thought but the Sprocket is not mounted to wheel nor can you adjust it's angle on a single sided swinger.

  9. Ahh, was unsure if the 848 was a single or double sided swing arm...
