I have no idea how long I have had this chess set but “found” it whilst tidying. Removed from the original packaging to photograph, otherwise never been used. Fairly sure this was marketed by the National Museum of Scotland to advertise their exhibit of the artefact which was found on the Isle of Lewis in the mid 1800 and thought to be of Scandinavian origin. Made from stone and resin, overall diameter is about 9”, the playing board is 8” square and the pieces range from about 1” to 2” high. I’m guessing this was marketed as a display item but it is robust enough to play with and I have seen it advertised on the internet as a travelling set. £35 including UK mainland postage. Andy
