Returning After 8 Yrs Without A Bike - Recommendations, Please

  1. Hi, I will shortly be taking delivery of my MY2015 1200S D|Air and would appreciate any recommendations for a bloke who hasn't had a policy for quite some time.. I'm 42, held a full bike licence for 14 years. As I will also have the D|Air jacket, i'm after more than £1000 kit cover.

    Thanks in advance..

  2. Not that it's any good now but I'd have gone and purchased a real shed of a scooter or something, just to insure for a year. I had a hiatus due to a theft of my bike and a home purchase. No NCB, tracker, garage, commuting, ground anchor... all on a 2010 MTS 1200s Touring. That means £65pcm in money terms without all the kit cover you require though.

  3. I agree, but you wouldn't even need to go as far as a scooter, something like a Transalp or Africa twin would still be cheap enough to insure with no NCB. I moved my NCB from my 900ss to my Benelli. The five years NCB dropped my Benelli insurance by over £400(to £300) yet by reverting to 0 years NCB on the Ducati it went up to £100 (to £150!)

FWIW I insure my Italian bikes with Swinton, and the Japs with Bennetts.
