749 Rim Sizes

  1. i believe that the 749 dark left the factory with 16.5 inch rims is that right? 3.5 front 5.5 rear?
    has anyone fitted 17 inch rims and any feedback
    im not with my bike so cannot check rims!

  2. No 749 that I know of ever had anything but 17” rims. Don’t even think you can or could get a road tyre in that size?

  7. IIRC, for the most part, they both use the same sizes and will swap. In the back of my mind, there’s an idea some of the forged rears on the R’s were a 6” but I’m not 100%..

  8. ok so bottom line is if i get offered a set of forged wheels off a 999 i can stick them on my 749?

  10. That’s a race wheel for an RS. It was fashionable in early 2000’s to use 16.5in wheels on race bikes. These were never fitted to road bikes.
