I've seen german road workers install two bridges in under four days, whereas in the uk. Two months might have been the earliest expected done deal.
Railtrack has taken nearly a year (so far - not done yet) to replace one over-bridge in Newbury. It's been chaos all the while. They don't give a f@*k how long it takes, since there's no time penalty on them.
M5, M1, M6. Permanent works supposedly replacing surface. Been going on years. Pharaoh kings completed pyramids quicker than UK work forces can do a 4 mile resurfaced stretch.
