Roof Mounted Bike Lift

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by DanSS600, Aug 11, 2020.

  1. I've made a mobile platform to make working on the bike easier but getting it on and off wasn't easier so I've made this.

Now I can roll the bike underneath, pass a 1m lifting strap through the headstock and a 2m strap through the rear footpeg mounted and the hoist does the work.

  2. I would extend the metal hanging structure to cover at least 4-beams. Looks well sketchy imho on just two. But the concept is great, I've looked into doing this.

  3. I don't have room for a hydraulic ramp, that's why I did this.

  4. Mine cost £90 in total and is very useful - still need to put the bath under it though
Free I section from work, Manual 2 Tonne Hoist was £80 NIB off Ebay (second hand but never used) Straps £10...

  5. Good idea, I'll look at the straps today.

  6. Ooo! I thought of doing that as well as I have a spare winch but the loading on the joists put me off. Mmmmm the I beam idea is good though. Perhaps I shall revisit it in the winter.
