Rose Joint

  1. Anyone know of a source for good quality replacement rose joints for the ride height adjuster on a 749?

    Not OEM - too expensive.

Looked on ebay etc but im wondering if anyone has actually replaced theirs with some that they could recommend.

    Cheers

  2. Worth a go for that sort of cash. Im thinking of putting a rubber boot over mine as it gets grit in it which is why the thing hasnt moved for years

  3. Yeah ive seen those. If I trimmed the edges it would work fine and better than getting micro bits of gravel in it every ride.

  4. What size are they?

  5. I can't remember, something like m10 rh thread or something but will check when it comes to doing them. Planning ahead as I have a few jobs in the pipeline like having my forks re annodised

  6. I've got the McGill rod ends on my Monster suspension linkage, I have to say they appear to be superior to the OEM Ducati part.

Don't forget you need one RH and one LH thread on a ride height adjuster...

  7. Ive looked in the manual and there is a thick looking bolt securing the shock that looks like an exhaust off job to remove, and a thin bolt that secures the ride height rod. From the picure in the manual it looks like the thin bolt screws into the big one securing the shock.

Can anyone tell me if this is the case or do they screw into the swingarm?

Its on a black swingarm 749 and i really dont want to take the pipe off again.

  8. Update....

I dropped the shock and ride height adjuster out this evening :upyeah: A really easy job with a center stand and something I will think about doing annually if for nothing other than to give it a proper clean

I went with the Mcgill ultra high performance ends as suggested and included one of the neoprene covers and im hoping that should keep the crap out of it.

All that delivered for 27 quid so a pretty good saving over the inferior OEM stuff.

Next the shock and forks are getting rebuilt and im going to drop the suspension rocker arm off over the weekend to give it a good clean and re-grease as theres no point doing a half-arsed job.
