Have exceeded the running in mileage @ 600 and will do bit more over the coming weeks / likely to be 900 miles. What do dealers consider reasonable?
I'm sure the reason for the 600 service is to clean the oil of early contamination from the mating process? Check everything is ok, nut and bolt check, I'd say it's in your interest to get it done surely, I'd also assume by putting up to 1000 on a brand new bike gives Ducati a get out clause for any warranty work, I wouldn't risk it for both reasons it's an expensive lovely bike look after it imo
This time of the year getting in for a service can be difficult - so if you have not booked it - I would do so straight away as my local dealers are normally a month + wait depending on how flexible you are. As others have said - I would get it done ASAP - I would think you need to be less than 700 miles - but that's just my feeling - not something I know.
My niece could not get an appointment for her first service on a M821, Moto Rapido told her that as long as she gets it done before 950 miles maximum, there would be no problem.
All done - high revs all the way home and fantastic pops bangs from the Akras on overrun - well happy with the 959 now!!
