Usually I hate running in bikes, I'm so impatient! All that power and not being able to use it. Yesterday however put a huge smile on my face, running in or not. It also gave me a good test of my new "sorry mate I didn't see you camera", purchased after an incident with a lying little shit (scuse my french). Bike was awesome, and camera is good, although the quality on youtube seems poor, actual video is really sharp. Footage is below, cue comments on crap riding lol!
Thought I recognised the road ...that stretch from Sedbergh to Devils Bridge is one of my favourite sections
All we have to do is click the gear-cog symbol & change image quality too 720HD & its ok. I prefer on-helmet footage because we are more likely as people to not bounce with the contours of the road. Looking forward to more footage after the run in'
I did wonder about on helmet footage, but chose this option as the camera is hard wired directly to the battery via the sat nav connection so when the bike is on the camera is on, when the bike is off, well, you get the picture. As it is a witness camera as opposed to an action camera I wanted a camera that I could just leave alone and not worry about how much battery life is left, how much memory card is left etc, and this is perfect for the job, just get on and go. Most rides we go out on are all day events and this camera will record all day using its loop feature, and never go flat. I did look at go-pros, but found they were limited by battery life if nothing else. I am sooooooooooo looking forward to after the run in
O yeah so you all know and go to Devils bridge, but I was there on Saturday at 1 till 1:30. there were 2 other Multistrada's there one with an odd number plate looked like a dealer plate but more permanent. Of course I nodded at both the other riders but as usual they just "stud" there like cock hens displaying there prize to any female's that wandered past. So I ate my buttie and left. So any how my question is any one fancy meeting up at devils over the Easter week end? It would give us a chance to practice group strutting. and may be all ride up to Hawes and do the same there for an hour.
If I get the chance yes, don't get to Devils Bridge much, maybe twice a year, but always up for some group strutting should the opportunity arise [emoji1][emoji106]
Are these 2015 model MTS's you all refer to? I've ordered one (deposit paid) but didn't think they were even in the country as yet? If that is this years I might be getting mine soon??? I was told not to expect them in the country until mid April and then there was a queue! Been to Devil's Bridge a few times on route to tours in the Dales but a bit far out for a day ride for me. That part of the world is great for motorcycles though. Done a few tours with "White Rose Tours" around there - love it!
Mines a 2015, although it is a 2014 model, bought a NOS and saved a fortune From what I have heard its looking like April is when the DVT models are coming in, Ducati Leeds have 15 coming in their first batch and they are all sold.
Yes that sounds similar to Lincoln. I think they are only getting eleven to sell for the year! I hope mine is in the first batch of those. I once bought an R1 in the same way you have and saved a fortune too. It's a great way to get a new bike at a realistic price and for sure if the one you have is as good as the one I did a test ride on you'll have plenty big fun! You do pay over the odds for upgraded models but that's exactly why they upgrade them I suppose. Good luck with the new purchase. How have they told you to run her in? Only asking as the R1 I had and my last bike were different. I'm presuming this is 600 miles to a basic oil change and check?
I think Leeds are get 45 in total for the year, 15 coming in the first batch. The dealer hasn't told me how to run in, I have just read it in the owners handbook. Usual vary the engine RPM, don't exceed 6000rpm for the first 600 miles, then don't exceed 7500rpm for the next 900 miles, not complying with this procedure may affect any warranty claims!! So needless to say I am sticking to their recommendations. I think at 600 miles I get a service indication and then it's in for oil and filter and a check that everything is tight that should be tight. I bet you can't wait for your DVT, did you get the one with all the toys??
That's a 1500 mile run-in! Mind you 7500 rpm is going some anyway. I've ordered a white one. Never thought I would want one other than red as my first ever Ducati but hey who cares? I sort of wish I had got the sport version with the Termi exhaust but the standard will have to do for now. I can add that later as a project for the bike. I did email Ducati to ask about adding a smoked screen and some pannier liners but never got a reply so not sure if they even do them. Just thought smoked would look really good on White and Black but again I can do that at a later date. You're right though' I am really excited to be getting one after some initial trepidation!
I've just heard DMC Moto Preston are having an open day with the new Ducati range you have to phone to book a test ride. Next weekend I think
Try the www.ducati.co.uk/accessories/multistrada web page and search for Year = 2015. Smoked Plexiglas - Smoked Plexiglas windscreen. Same size as the clear oversized windscreen, with added protection from sun glare. 97180221A. £148.40 Set of side pannier liners - Pair of saddlebag liners specifically designed for use with hard saddlebags. 96780521A. £127.05 There is also a new shape carbon fibre screen with built in spoiler, see Carbon headlight fairing. 96980711A. Yours for a mere £233.80.
Had a look at those pannier liners. Wow they are pricey! With the top box one included at £63 that would be £190 for the set. I wonder do they pack and weigh themselves at that price? Presume quality being Ducati will be first class (tin hat already at hand). Re the screen: I think with all the threads I've seen since I logged on here about buffeting and wind rush I'll see how the supplied screen goes first. I might have to get an after market one.
That's strange, what a small world. I'm booked to go on the Croatia, Slovenia & Italy with White Rose this summer Croatia, Slovenia and Italy - Motorcycle Tours I went to Ireland and the NW200 last year with them to.
Me and the missus did quite a few smaller tours with White Rose around Dales, Scottish Borders and Wales. Haven't done one with them for about two years to be fair. Went to Croatia with Ride with Us Tours year before last. You'll enjoy that for sure. The coastal route in Croatia is a stunning bike road. Not sure if White Rose go quite that far into Croatia to be honest? Ride With Us catch the overnight train from Germany to Austria which saves at least a days riding into Croatia. Anyway, good luck with the tour and as I said Croatia is a great place. Maybe a thread on the tour page about Croatia would be a good idea.
