Sanding Plastic And Paint Codes

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by DoctorW, Dec 20, 2015.

  1. Dropped my gloss black 2006 749 earlier today (posted in general section). Just wondered whether or not a fine wet and dry paper would work to smooth some of the damage to my DP mirror?
Also, does anyone know the paint code and where I could get a touch up pen / needle style paint stick?
    Thanks,
    Andrew.

  2. I'vemessaged in Ducati General section. Any car body repair shop can mix you a match , there should be a paint code under your seat or in the tail area. Your mirror though in my opinion needs sprayed to look half decent again ( well worth doing ) the tail could be touched in using an artists brush I think. The bike deserves fixed as best you can afford.

  3. If the plastic is textured then it will be difficult to impossible to make it look good again as any type of sanding generally tends to shred the plastic. As mentioned you are best getting (both) mirror\s repainted and they will be fine.

Plastic can be difficult to paint so it must cleaned, primed and painted by someone ideally who has experience of doing this type of work.
