The whole Marquez thing has got me thinking, mainly about how Moto2 has helped develop some of these guys and really get them in the right groove as it were for tackling a full on GP bike, its like the perfect apprenticeship Scott redding as we know is very bloody good, he's also very used to racing alongside of Marquez and sticking with him and matching him, although probably due to Scott's size he lost out in the drag races in moto2 anyway my point being is that watching Scott you can just see that he has that same extreme riding style as MM and the lad has some serious marketability about him, hes got a good attitude and has his own crazy style. will he settle straight in on a bigger Motogp bike? I'd say yes, it'll help him due to his size but I honestly believe he could be an instant Alien hit just like Marquez has been. I still support Cal as he's British and he deserves it, but looking to the future, and 'these crazy kids' getting they're elbows down, well I can't bloody wait If they hook scott up with a factory ride I know he'll be right up there and battling with MM, even better if its a well sorted Ducati
MM now makes it look easy, but riding that GP bike like he does as of day 1 is ultra rare.. however interesting Redding may be, i fear i wouldn't happen.. problem with being close is that it is just not good enough... teribly good, but not good enough... no one had it as much under control as MM did.. and it is this tad better that now makes 100% of the difference.. look at Bradl... nice, but no... never really in the running, still chasing regular podium finishes.. should the ducs ever get better, he'll be in even more trouble... However much i like cal for his fighting spirit, he ever hardly beat Dovi. Aliens beat anyone most of the time... to be named Aliens, it takes more than being very good... and bulk will cost you even more dearly riding over the edge...
redding is amazing..whether he has the outstanding talent of MM time will tell when he makes the inevitable move up to motogp. marquez is super talented but h didnt 'invent' this elbow down riding style...rossi, stoner et al have been going that for years...it seems incredible that we may be treated to another exceptional talent to take the mantle from vale, but it looks like we may have a contender...im not saying that he will equal rossi's acheivements but if anyone can, it looks like it my just be the young spaniard...however you cut it, it looks like the spanish will be dominating the sport for a few years to come.
Just hope when scott moves up he dont get landed with a space saver bike. Would rather have seen him on the tec 3 bike that bradley
I think a lot of this depends on how nurtured you've been as well, again I'm not taking away anything from MM but lets be honest his moto2 & subsequent move up to GP has been with the best equipment and teams so he couldn't really of had it easier... Unless they changed the rules for him....oh hang on a minute....they did that as well i just think if you did the same for redding and properly took him under your wing you'd get the same kind of result as MM, the problem with the British is that we always tend to overlook our own talent and don't get behind them quick enough. I'm hoping we can change that especially when we've got somebody like redding coming. Why wait, support him now is what I say. Cals struggled to prove his point and at times it's not been about talent it's been about marketability, his passport or his attitude (the latter is probably what keeps him sharp) but I reckon Scott's probably got that little bit more marketability than Cal so if he starts off with backing he could really go far. again just my 2 penneth........ Just figured why support some Spanish kid when we've got our own, and besides some of that BT money should be going back our way somehow
