749 Screen Parking Light

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by gps999, May 2, 2016.

  1. I am probably in the minority here, but I am looking at getting a replacement new or second hand good condition screen sidelight for my 749 S Has anyone got one for sale or does anyone know where I can buy a new one. ? Although its not the most attractive feature if its there, I would rather its in good condition.

With a crap Bank Holiday Monday, I decided to change oil and filter, very straightforward, plugs..... glad I d read about iridium plugs need a microscopically thin plug socket to fit tight. Getting some replacement coil packs to fit now. What is the grease used to protect them called and where do u get it from?

After reading tales of fuel light coming on earlier than expected, I found out that my light seems to come on after 80-85 miles and I can only get about 13 litres in tank.... Maybe I could fill it more , I know the neck is long I tend to fill to the bottom of the neck opening. Any thoughts appreciated, Just don't want petrol sloshing around everywhere.

Bikes going in for belts sprockets and chain on Thursday, so I should be nice and settled once I get that done. Had the bike a couple of weeks, initial impression are that its perfect out on the open road a real pleasure, and less fun in traffic and speed restricted areas... (ie half of the roads round here..) I find the design and shapes of the bike hypnotising, no wonder they end up in doors........ but I am a bit sad when it comes to anything with wheels !!

  2. I wouldn't mind a blank for mine lol.

  3. Got my fuel light to flicker from full at 69mls and full on at 74mls on Saturday, guess they have small tanks/drink fuel.

I've had mine on the road a few weeks too, the are bloody good fun.

  4. I too wouldn't mind getting hold of a good condition screen light as mine is a little past its best.

I have a super- bright white LED in mine to act as a high level running light - works a treat :)

  5. Our bikes run cool on the open road, so cool that the mixture is probably being enriched by the ecu to compensate.
If we can get the thermostat to open at a higher temp, we'd probably get better economy and better performance...
