1200 Second Bike ...multi?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by gregsf848, Oct 4, 2016.

  1. Hi all,

As a streetfigter owner I'm looking for a second bike something a bit less focused and can do some miles on and winter riding and would love to ad another ducati to my garage so i was thinking how about a multistada 1200 ....BUT i'm on a very tight budget of £6K

    Thoughts anyone?

i.e. can six grand buy a decent multi?

    or should i look elsewhere?.

    Thanks in advance

    Greg

  2. If you stretch to nearer 7500k should get you a 2012 2103 mts1200 skyhook touring model. Happy hunting

  3. That's in the ballpark of trade in offers on 10-11 1200S models, so you may well come across a pissed off owner who'd rather sell privately than trade at that price.

  4. If you can get an electronic Ohlins shod S, the aftermarket Ohlins SCU transforms the bike and is IMO better than the Skyhook but then IMO, the last of the first generation bikes (2012) is better than both the twin spark and the DVT if you are looking for a scratcher, the engine is easier to tune. Had a lesson in proper fast riding from an IAM national instructor on our way back from Wales at the weekend and I was awe struck how fast you can push the bike, even fully luggage up with panniers and top box. 5. If you're going to use it in winter a faired bike would survive salt roads better. How about a ST.

  6. Good shout, my ST4S was a great bike. Not as agile as the 1200 Multistrada but a real mile muncher :upyeah:. Andy

  7. At 14 years old and 55k miles, my ST4s is in better condition than my 15k Multistrada.
