Seperating air box top/bottom 749s 2004?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Mar 20, 2013.

  1. I'm in the process of removing the injectors on my 749s for cleaning.

I have the airbox removed off the spigots and all the screws undone, removed the throttle cable at handlebar end, but it appears that probably the throttle cable and for want of a better description the 'choke' cable is preventing the separation of the 2 halves.

Would I be on the right track here?

How do you remove the cables?

    All advice appreciated.

  2. The cables are in gromments that push into the air box halves. Pull the halves apart.

Then just slide the grommets out of the box.

  3. Just thinking about it John, that's for the fuel hose. The cables enter in the top half, they are still held with a grommet, just pull that out and slide it along the cables. that should give you enough clearance to access the inside of the box.

  4. Thanks for that, I have done what you suggested, and now have access.
