Hi. As I’m supposed to be going on a trip to the Pyrenees I needed some luggage for my Supersport. I have bought some Shad semi rigid panniers and fitted them today. Very easy to fit. I do however have a little issue because I have a tail tidy and the bracket which fits under the tail has spacers, just not quite long enough, this is an easy fix tho. The bracket is in 3 pieces and all you need is a 4mm Allen key and a 13mm spanner. The panniers then slide onto the brackets, there are some Velcro loops which fit around the brackets, and 2 Velcro straps which strap the panniers together under the seat. Job done. Took about 20 minutes. Please ignore all the junk on the left side of my steps, I have replaced all my kitchen doors and the queue for the tip is always about 100 miles long! I do like having the option for metal panniers & also quickly using light-weight ones. What is there waterproof rating @Vader ?
I use the Ducati ST panniers on my Supersport. Frame is quick detachable and the panniers fit close to the bike rather than stuck out in the wind. Anything is better than the Ducati offering that is extremely expensive for sh1te panniers.
They have water proof covers for heavy rain, I suppose they maybe ok in light drizzle, they have water proof zips. The Ducati panniers for the super sport are hellish expensive. I’ve seen some new ones on eBay for £750 plus postage!! These may stick out in the wind but they’re good enough for me.
I’d be worried I’d see a gap in traffic and think “I can get through there” A bit like my old Anglia with the Carlos Fandango wheels upgrade, I gave up the Panema’s after that........
Was not a criticism. I was just very conscious of the speeds I was travelling at with them fitted. There is a lot of pressure on the front of each pannier when riding at 85 Mph for 8 hours at a time.
No criticism taken, I know they stick out quite a bit which is a little disappointing but for price they’ll do. Ducati panniers are way too expensive, SW tech (I think) were at least £100 more. As I’m only going to use these once per year then at £186 for the set they will do.
