I have had my 1299 a year now and haven't really twiddled with the suspension settings. Ever since picking the bike up it has been in dynamic mode, but I seem to be running out of fork travel. Ideally I need to spend a few hours getting a decent road/track setting in fixed mode on it and see how it goes from there. So do any of you guys have any decent Fixed Mode settings that you would like to share?
Ive shoved mine to 'harder' in dynamic, front, rear and damper. I thought it was a bit squiffy sometimes when you pressed on. Feels better to me, but it is bumpier on shit roads.
I know what you mean, the front on mine feels like it needs a couple more clicks of compression and 3 or 4 more on the rebound. It doesn't feel settled coming off the brake in a corner.
its a good thread topic, i have had my bike for over a year and i feel if in not carfull ill end up selling it at asome point and still not knowing /using all the settings etc. i would expect a little more 'info' in maybe youtube form from Ducati to support the use of the various settings, rather than just the user hand book and crack on.. ill post my settings when i get home, but in the road i run dynamic mode and on the track i am still jumping between the fixed and dynamic mode as i haven't settled for a preference yet .. (still not set my front sag yet, so need to get this clarified before fiddling too much..)
Yes I was quite supprised to find very little info on the internet regarding the settings. I know that both Aprilia and KTM supply various settings for touring, road and track, so why not Ducati? I'm hoping to spend an hour with Colin from 100% Suspension next week, so we'll see how that goes. I'll post back on here. On a side note does anyone know the spring rates for forks and shock?
I weigh 11.5 to 12st leathered up. Ooer. But I like a stiffer feel (ooer again). I dont like a bike that goes squirelly exiting a corner. I used to find in default the rear would squat and pulse and sometimes the front would be a tad boingy. Not exactly scientific feedback. But I do really like the suss on the 1299s now Ive set it harder. Soft was okay but maybe I wasnt good enough to time the throttle, who knows. As sometimes I could time it right and it felt good on default. So maybe its just my lack of skill. (probably)
I am 65kg. I have not changed the springs. I removed a bit of preload from the back and added some to the front to get things a bit more even. I run fixed mode on the Sport settings. I have made the suspension softer in order to better suit the bumpy roads on which I do most of my riding. If you ride mostly on the track this is probably the opposite of what you will want. Front dynamic sag = 33mm Rear dynamic sag = 37mm Front compression = 23 Front rebound = 14 Rear compression = 23 Rear rebound = 14
I made a few adjustments yesterday morning, heres what I ended up with. Front Comp - 11 Front Reb - 14 Rear Comp - 12 Rear Reb - 14 I then went out for a ride on mixed roads, fast flowing, tight bends ect, covering 140 miles. The bike feels much more stable on corner entry and mid corner and I now have about 10mm of unused travel on the fork leg, where as before I was almost running out of travel. I have made a few tweeks to this setting last night by adding one full turn of front perload and altererd the rear rebound from 16 to 14. I'll try to get out again this week and see how this compares to my last set up.
