I bought a new Audi diesel in 08, 3yrs on finance, paid off finance and bought car. Ran it for 2 more years before it went to my mum who still drives it. According to FB link I clicked I may get a payout due to the "emissions scandal". Now, I like the idea of money for not doing anything but I'm not sure if this "emissions scandal' actually cost me/mum anything? Did the car tax increase or the cars value decrease? I've never done something like this before and don't generally agree with the suing culture unless it's deserved (someone runs red light and knocks you down breaking a leg). I did try PPI but as I suspected I never paid any so never got anything. So should I claim? Oh, and they want 50%!
Leave the ambulance shaking, insurance premium increasing scum to die in a ditch next to Boris! These companies are the scourge of UK, more so than pikeys.
If it's one of those " ambulance chaser " firms , they are ten-a-penny , so you can play one against another ..... tell them they can have 15% or they can F off .... their choice . As to the first part of your question .... Will it turn around and bite someone in the arse ? Haven't a clue , but it's wise to be cautious . I know what you mean about " suing culture " but it goes even deeper than that .... it's a " blame culture " world we are living in . " Signs and Wonders "
Used diesel car prices are falling faster than petrol models. Is this due to the scandal which raised peoples awareness that diesels might poison the atmosphere - probably. But that could also be the "fault" of the Sun/ Express & Mail. If you get a wedge from VW but feel you don't deserve it, you can always donate it to Help for Heroes, Save the children or some other deserving charity.
I would be surprised if it wasn't simple to claim on your own - I did with PPI, about 20 letters to banks on line through the FO web site only took about an hour. Have you Googled to see? - all these companies do is forward your details to the relevant place and take half the money.
Also be realistic, many of these claims can take years instead of weeks, with you often chasing up your own firm, more than they chase up the company you are after money from.
I had some sort of PPI on a Nissan 200SX. I cleared the finance very quickly and sold the car after 11 years. But going through my documents long after I sold the car and when the PPI scandal broke, I found the Nissan ones and worked out that I should never have been offered the PPI as it would not have covered me owing to my employment status. Went to the finance company directly which I think was something to do with Renault (RCI Finance). Took about a week to recover the PPI payments but they included a considerable amount of interest as well.
Audi deliberately lied about the emissions They lied about the economy They mis sold there product ! If its easy take there money be under no illusion they would sure as fuck take yours to repair a car knowing the part\system was a weak link !!
Not looked but maybe see what the money saving expert website has on it. I nearly used a firm for ppi who would have taken 10%, mse had all the info and template letters so did it myself. It was so simple and took a few emails to sort, then done.
Find out how they're doing it, then do it privately. But do it. They were in the wrong, so don't worry about the 'it didn't affect me' bit.
