I don't have any issue with vibes, the R&G bar ends were purely a cosmetic 'upgrade' for me, plus they have the replaceable Delrin slider caps. To make any difference to vibes through the bars I think replacement bar ends have to be a fair bit heavier.....and so larger? There's other 'fixes', some people swear by inserts like Barsnake but I have no experience. I've also read of DIY solutions such as filling the bars with things such as BB pellets....I think there was more info in these discussions: Show me your bar ends... - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum Buzzzzing mirrors - MTS1200 - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum
I fitted the Barkbusters Hand Protectors purely to stop the original hand guards and indicators from getting damaged. I have to say, before and after fitting them, I have never had any vibrations feeding back via the handlebars. Chris
Mine is not too bad, just a bit of a buzz so I might be looking for a solution that doesn't really have a problem. It just seems to have got a little more noticeable after the service - so perhaps they tightened up all the engine mounting bolts!
Ironically the vibrations went down when I switched from R&G bar ends (which the bike had from new) to the DP Enduro handguards.
I've got pretty bad vibes on my 1098S so I invested in Motovation bar ends as they're the heaviest I could find (190g each comparing to about 70g)... I'm waiting for them to be delivered and I'll report back
...a product you slide over stock grips to gice extra thickness/comfort. Let me google that for you
Grip Puppies arrived today, when I don't risk drowning walking the 15 yards to the shed I might actually fit them
Here's pics of the barkbusters and end weights installed. I think the weight of them is helping to lower the vibes somewhat, but it wasn't an issue for me in the first place. They are twins and twins will vibrate.
Over here in NZ we call those wrist-breakers, because thats just what they'll do when you come off ! Especially when adjusted that high. In fact they are banned in off-road competition events, and most organized trail rides.
My riding is mostly on the street, so not worried about it. They aren't banned here in the USA in dirt bike competitions.
Grip puppies fitted, huge difference. Vibes are virtually non existant and I find them far more comfortable than just standard grips. Pics to follow.
Hi Trip, I know I'm a dumb ass but what's the best way of fitting the little critters. Do they roll on like a cricket bat grip. If so, still none the wiser. Sorry!!
Just wet the inside of them and add a little soap. They just stretch/slide on. Allow them to dry for a couple of housrs and you're done. You need to cut them down to 110mm to fit nicely on the MTS which you can do with a pair of scissors/Stanley knife etc.
