999 Side stand bracket required

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Bananaman, Apr 10, 2014.

  1. Any one got a side stand bracket for a 999 they want to sell?

Went for a run out today and one of the bolts vibrated loose so when I put it on its stand it bent the bracket and is now complety out of alignment. I had the side stand off over winter for paint work and have obviously not torqued the bolt correctly.

  2. After contacting several breakers and searching e-bay for hours on end I think it's fair to say there isn't a 2nd hand one anywhere to be found. Looks like it will be a call to the ducati dealership to order me one at a healthy £90 price tag.

  3. Did you ever find one mate? I'm in the same predicament.

I'm wondering if I could get mine repaired, just insure of how strong the weld would be as obviously the weight of the bike is on it.

  4. I couldn't find a second hand one any where. You can weld it and it will be fine, my problem is the bracket had twisted so much that I struggled to line the 2 engine case mating surfaces up without puting stess on the threads. I got a new one for £89, rather safe than sorry.

  5. A vice and a lump hammer will see that right.

  6. I have a vice & a lump hammer, didn't work for me, the mating surfaces have to be smack on. I dicided that a £89 stand to keep up a £5000 investment isn't that bad.

  7. Thanks mate. I spoke to someone at work and like you he said go for the weld option. Seems you can't find one anywhere as I had no luck either.

  8. I have a spare but don't really want to sell it. If the welding doesn't work out pm me.

  9. Try jim at bike enders

  10. I have a 848/1098 complete stand and bracket if it will fit?
Or if anyone else is looking.

  11. I tried this week but just kept ringing. Thanks though.

Going to get it welded on Monday.

  13. Hi guys,
If you are in the UK and still require a side stand, I have a few knocking around in my garage. I bought an engine last year and included in the sale was a bag of all different bits including a few side stand brackets. I will gladly sell them to you at a lower price. I think I also have the bolts to go with them but I will have a look and get back to you.
PM me if you are interested. I will have a look today to see where the brackets are and the condition of them. I can put a pic up of them too so you can have a look and if you want one, we could sort something out through PayPal? Or if you are local, pick them up. Nice excuse for a ride out eh!?

  14. ^ very kind of you Dan - make sure yours is ok as they have a very hard life and owners of older bikes often don't realise that their own side stand brkt is either loose or distorted.
