First Iam NO electrician I have a side stand switch with just one wire on it. Could anyone tell me how to check it is working / making a contect. Cheers Gaz
All Ducati side stand switches I've ever seen have got 3 wires although only 2 are used. Is this switch off something else? If so it probably makes a contact to ground through the housing.
Surely the engine should cut out if you engage gear with the stand down if it’s working. If you can engage hear and ride away with the stand down I’d guess it’s not working
Hi Derek Its one of these. https://www.stein-dinse.biz/advance...t=1&keywords=037012590&x=0&y=0&categories_id= Cheers Gaz
The switch is a spare and off the bike - just wanted to check it and make sure it was working. Cheers Gaz
If it had 2 wires I would guess you could do a continuity test across the 2 wires and press the end in to check, but not sure what to do with one wire. Cheers Gaz
Is it an old SS switch? If so, it’s a switch to ground. Ground is provided by the engine. To check, you’re looking for continuity between the switch housing and the terminal as you push/release the plunger.
Ah. I have a 907ie, I was thinking of the later bikes that cut the ignition. That switch connects to ground through the body to lighr up the warning light in the dash. You should get continuity when the plunger is pressed (or maybe it's the other way)
Yes thanks for replies. Sorry should have check continuity, I did think about it but thought it would not work because the pluger was touching the body anyway. As mentioned continuity when plunger out (providing earth) and when depressed (stand down) the beeeeeep goes. Thanks all. Cheers Gaz
