1200dvt 2016 it appears I’ve no compression damping on the rear shock ! The bike is skyhook anybody come across this before ?
What do you mean? If you mean it’s solid, ie no dip when you sit on it, the ignition is needed on or it locks the suspension. If ignition on, it’s buggerred
It goes solid after 30 sec of turning the ignition on as it should but there’s no damping it’s super soft wether it’s touring or sport or urban or enduro it’s like there’s no oil in it but there’s no visible leaks . One up or two up with luggage its the same ..
Mine displayed similar symptoms. Was super soft all the time. I bought 2nd hand on ebay. Not a serviceable shock. Or wasn't a couple of years ago. May have changed now which would be nice. Not too difficult to swap out entire assembly including cylinder under seat. Ebay £150. New nearly £1800.
Was thinking the same .. there’s no codes coming up and am assuming it’s more the shock than electrical ..
Reset to default I now have damping in sport urban and enduro . Softest to hardest is a noticeable difference . Touring on the other hand on the return stroke of the shock it feels like it’s sticking and there is very little damping in any setting Ie one up two up with luggage. You’d think that points to software issue or a control unit seeing how the shock seems to behave in other modes or has my head exploded ?
Maybe go back into the dash and see if the Touring setting has been changed to hardest or harder. You can adjust each individual setting, possibly that hasn’t gone back to default. Good news the shock is working for other settings. If they work you’d have thought the Touring one should.
It is odd. Can’t imagine different sensors? Maybe software problem, which a dealer may be able to sort easily (?) with an update/reflash
We are now it appears to be stuck in sport and there is no damping for any other mode .. I can go softest / hardest all works fine in sport . But nothing for the other three modes . I’m assuming what ever adjusts the stack in the shock is stuck in sport setting . There’s no faults coming up when checked .. new shock here we come there has been a few in the states doing this by the looks of it
On the right hand side front of the swing arm, above/behind the rear brake reservoir, there is a small black plastic lever. It’s a part used in measuring the swing arm ride height etc. Make sure it’s there for one thing and that it’s not damaged in any way. It’s all linked together with the shock settings etc. I tend to agree with Bradders though. Possible shock failure.
Handy tip: when swapping it all out, just remove left hand subframe bolt and there is enuff room to pass cable through without removing all the rear end.
