Did the belts today on my S4R no probes, the rear cylinder inlet cam moved a couple of times but it all went together a treat. Turned the engine over a few times by hand again no issues. Started it up, flat as a fart. The only thing I can think of is that I reset the inlet cam to the timing mark the opposite way from the direction it had moved from. So I think I want to reset the whole engine, crank, cam etc from the given marks? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I feel a right gimp.
There are timing marks on the heads and cases that were adhered to but still this issue arose. It sounds exactly like it did when it previously killed a plug.
if all 5 timing marks are aligned and all you've touched is the belts, then there must be a second issue here Dave.
Yeah think your right Chris. I checked it all again and again. I did the oil and filter too but that shouldnt effect anything? Is there any help checking the timing mark through the window in the left hand side case?
Was there ANYTHING else you touched doing the belts & oil? Leads, connectors, battery etc? Retrace your steps....
Have you got the inlets and injectors connected up with the ECU? are the plugs wet, ie. one cylinder not firing (and not getting exhaust hot). I had an ECU go on my 996 after buggering about under the seat once, lost one of the injector outputs. Replaced with one offof ebay eventually. Apparently, 'they do that sometimes'.
Dont worry, provided it lined up with the marks (and you didn't move the crank, it doesn't really matter which way you turned it.
This is the right answer. You could turn the cam ten times and as long as your marks line up it will be in the same place. 360 degrees and its back to the start point.
