Good morning all, I bought and picked up my 848 streetfighter last week and was looking into getting a slipper clutch fitted. I had a GSXR previously and became lazy relying on one without blipping. I've seen quite a few about and interested in hearing what's worth considering. I was also looking to get an idea of cost to get one fitted here in the UK. Any help of information appreciated. Regards Andrew
Expensive personally I wouldn't bother just adapt your riding style and blip the throttle Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I'm of a different opinion Jon. I fitted mine to my SF when I bought new in 2013 and I'm so used to it now, I wouldn't like to be without it. I can't remember the cost as I bought if online from Italy a bit cheaper than a dealer part in the UK. Obviously my 1098 is a dry clutch and was so easy to fit myself. Your wet clutch is a little more of a chew on to fit, but still well within the capabilities of a DIY mechanic.
It would be getting done at a garage no doubt. I myself and anyone I know wouldn't have the gumption to do it. Do you know what you paid all in or what I would expect to pay?
I don't Jon, sorry. £400ish rings a bell. Mine was the dry clutch anyway, I've never priced the wet one.
No problem Robarano. I appreciate your insight. Need to have a think about what else I can get. Really want a quick shifter!!!! Looks like it will be a cheaper option than a clutch
Haven't got one on my SF and have never missed it. Don't have any issues at all. A blip and all is well. With that much torque I've never found the need to bang down two or more gears at once on the road. Different maybe if you do a lot of track riding. Got one on the KTM but I ride that out of habit as though it had a plain clutch. Can't honestly tell the difference between the two. Except at service time, myt SF being a 1098 with a dry clutch. The standard clutch kit costs enough.
