As per title Mine is on an optimate charger but whenever I go to start it it always seems to struggle turning over anyone else have the same? Is it just the amount of compression that's causing this. Had a Single 4/stroke that was exactly the same.
Vince those 2 pistons are the size of dustbins! I would think that it should spin over a little easier when you have done some more miles , the engines still a bit tight.
Yeah, in al fairness once its been warmed up and taken down the road a bit, when turned off and re started soon after it seems to be ok.
The ambient temperature since you have had it has been very low too. I would think when it gets warmer it should spin a bit faster.
Vince, stay serious man : ) your engine has a decompressor facility at starting speed but i'm sure temperature will still make a difference - hope a specialist/long term Pani owner picks this thread up.
Someone sells thicker cables from the battery to the starter, they 'Claim' that this vastly improves the speed the engine turns over. Maybe true but if so why doesn't Ducati fit thicker cables ?
Spoke to a fellow owner and he has the same and his bike has more mileage than mine. It's obviously the amount of compression it has
I've put thicker cables and a new Yuasa in my 999 and starting is now instant. It just bursts into life
has it always been like this? the decompressor does seem to make it turn over twice as long, and its not the fastest spinner out the box. They sound half the speed of a normal inline 4 for example.
Yes it has from day one but seems to be spinning up a bit quicker now especially when warm, spoke to someone else and theres is exactly the same so I aint bothered to much.
