seems when Matt was modding it was far less heavy handed, and sorted itself most of the time. Has this place finally made it to ducatisti status of cliques, little value and over moderation? Its already full of dross after dross on every thread now, even the ones which are failry serious or bike related. Not just the occasional quip but page after page. Time to move on then.
No just the stupid people that want to argue with everyone about something and nothing, and abuse people whilst doing it. It's not on. Never was, never will be. And frankly I'm amazed you condone this kind of behaviour, Paul. If you'd like to take the role on Paul, please do so. I don't need the crap that goes on here sometimes. PS Those that have been banned have had more than their fair share of warnings and requests to stop their outrageous and/or abusive behaviour. Yet they continue to stick two fingers up to everyone. It's not been a case of three strikes and you're out but twenty three strikes and you're out. Which is more than lenient in my book. But they don't see that, do they.
Cliques will always form up on a forum................. But actually, this forum isn't as bad as Ducatisti was............
I think he does a thankless job and does it well - and should be applauded for it actually! I can't imaging anyone would want the task even for a free scrambler from Ducati (Will this work for a get out of ban free card?) :Angelic:
It intrigues me how some people acquire the knowledge that some people have been banned, I have never seen any evidence of the banned, or am I missing something. I categorically agree with ET on this, bad behaviour in any form, be it name calling, intimidation, and just plain rudeness should not be tolerated in society an any shape, form or disguise, it is tantamount to bullying.:Stop:
I intensely dislike seemingly genuine members who post a topic purely with the intention of attracting a response from others which the OP then proceeds to shoot down / insult / show off / take the piss etc etc.........It is latent trolling and they should be banned and stay banned.
Any forum faces the same problem society as a whole faces; defining the limits to free speech. Free speech is a good thing which needs protecting, even when people say things we disagree with, but not if it reaches the level of illegal material: incitement to violence, personal threats to individuals, or libel. Those things clearly have to be stopped. People who like posting acres of tedious, trivial, repetitive, meaningless, irrelevant drivel - what about them? I'm afraid they have to be allowed to carry on. Just don't bother reading it, let alone responding.
From what I have seen its no worse than many other do and some others used to do more of, yet threatening to ban someone permantly, openly, when in a position to do that seems bad form to me And nope I dont want the job thanks. All the pain, none of the gain.
Somebody had to say it, good on you bradders. But I don't think its all El T's fault, most threads on here just end up full of shit, and then degenerate further into mild abuse or pointless arguments. Not sure if bans and threats to ban are the way forward though, as to what is, I don't know... Steve's hit the nail on the head IMO.
I must admit, I'm a bit simple-minded but what is difficult about this? People get warned about postings that contravene the forum rules, they get warned a few times that their posts are contravening the forum rules, they get told they will be banned if they don't stop contravening the forum rules and finally, they get banned for contravening the forum rules. Seems very straightforward to me. Or is there something I am missing? If a poster doesn't like getting told that they will be banned for contravening the forum rules then perhaps the forum is not the best place for them to interact. Perhaps there are other forums where they can push the envelope of humour, banter, good taste and decency. Just talking generally here - I have no one in mind. Truthfully.
As someone who posts mainly, but by no means exclusively, in the lounge it can be frustrating when banter turns to drivel but one man's meat is another man's poison. On the whole I think the moderation is pretty low key, with out and out abuse not tolerated, which is how it should be.
