Sp4/spo/sp5 Exhaust Hangers

Discussion in '851 / 888' started by Bridgland, Jul 25, 2020.

  1. Seems like these are now really hard to come by, so have decided the design really isn't that complex, so have done a CAD image and bought some 5mm Aluminium sheets (20cm x 20cm) as I can get a full set out of each.

Also took the time to compare the differences between the Strada and SPO rear frames and the SPO one is a little narrower and the mounting point is quite a bit further back and up, hence the uniform 'V' shape and extra length needed. As I have the Showa rear shock, I plan on adding the mounting tab on the right hand side, so it will have the mount for the Showa and Ohlins reservoirs (Just in case I get the urge to upgrade at some point).

Quick question though, can anyone tell me what the bend angles are for them?

Plan on cutting out this weekend and waiting for a folding tool to arrive.

Happy to share the PDF images if you want to have a go yourselves. 8262ED41-5CA8-42D3-B1DC-86398A2A4B93_1_105_c.jpeg 05D1922C-2429-4BA5-AAE5-2BC6BFB77B3C_1_105_c.jpeg 8AFE6488-D201-4B79-9EE9-B7E40DA94378_1_105_c.jpeg C9E51C9A-FA24-49AB-8BCA-D941734D3CBC_1_105_c.jpeg D1BE5987-E1FC-48EF-881F-F7941311EDFF_1_105_c.jpeg EC8EE7A5-93DA-4840-B94F-7C7D93D596C5_1_105_c.jpeg Screenshot 2020-07-13 at 11.25.31.png A732E6BF-5FF1-4ABE-829F-4C8BAF1BF60C_1_105_c.jpeg

  2. I finally collected the SP4 if you wanted to check an original.

  3. When I can actually get the rear seat cowl off my Strada I can work out which is which ( currently guessing it is on the RHS pic2 ) and start thinking about the Ricambi Weiss seat I got with it as a winters first project ( assuming it comes back with a reasonably clean bill of health from Nelly's ). Many thanks for your hard work putting up all this really useful information in such a clear format for someone new to the bike like me.

  4. Was it the SPS you were talking about getting? If so, I am ever so slightly jealous ;)

I have a bunch of photos from people, so should be good, but thanks for the offer.

  5. The rear seat on the Strada is a bit of a fiddly thing to remove and you have to be a bit "forceful" removing it.

1 - Twist the key in the lock and the lock should pop out slightly (about 5mm or more).
2 - Take a firm hold under the front of the seat hump and tug it briskly upwards, just to release it.
3 - Lift up the front of the seat by about 5cm and then ease the whole unit backwards to unhook it from the rear subframe bar.
4 - Lift off the seat unit.

Just do everything in reverse to put it back on.

  6. It is both actually. They both need some work. It is a treat after abandoning my Foggy/RS project.
