Spare Key

  1. 2004 Ducati monster 1000 sie. A bit confused went to local key cutting place, they told me my key has no chip. So can I just get the key cut and use it?

  2. Should be a Chipped key. If you want to confirm, remove the Ducati labels, drift out the pin, pull the key shank out with some pliers and remove the plastic drawer. The chip is there.

  3. Some of the early bikes used the square 15M ecu for fuel injected bikes but they didn't use the immobiliser so no chip in the key, but I think the 1000 should have used the later ecu and immobiliser.

If your key looks like this then it has no chip so you can just get a duplicate cut.
