Hope this is not too late, but, just been told of a speed camera in the layby on the A6 between Ambergate and Whatstandwell. This is the large layby with the burger van, on the left as you head towards Matlock. Hope this helps.
just been told that there is no speed camera in the lay by on the A5 near towcester at this time.....hope this helps too.
all the coppers milling around matlock is one of the reasons i stopped riding over that way several years ago. plus, you cant park up for 5 seconds without either having a traffic warden breathing all over your bike, snot nosed kids dribbling ice cream all over the place, or inconsiderate knobbers bimbling across the packed road as i stand up wheelie over the zebra crossing...i even got a 'tut' once from a lady in a mobility scooter...incredible.
Thought I'd post it, as I've not seen any speed cameras along the A6 for most of this year. Agreed, a few years ago, heavy police presence, lots of police estate cars with blacked out windows and rear facing camera set ups. Probably due to recent cut backs, but, not many obvious police at all. Not seen a traffic warden in Matlock for a couple of years. Still get all the kids, family and tyre kickers .... But, a few are actually interested in the bikes and can hold a conversation.
Don't head up that way as much, every 60 is now a 50 in the surrounding area, lots of camera vans about. A few of us parked in the top car park next to the fish pond, grabbed a bag of chips and in that time a traffic warden had ticketed the 2 bikes parked in a bay! I didn't get one as not parked in a bay, either that or the yellow peril was a Ducati lover.
