...........on Channel 4 now. Anyone watching it? Best line so far; Project Director to the whole team - "has anyone got any other issues they'd like to bring up before we finish today?" Guy Martin - "we need more tea bags. We've run out of tea bags"
I always enjoy his stuff. He's a bit of daft sod but it's hard to not like him. Gonna watch it tonight with a beer and a smoke.
I still can't believe the speed he achieved riding inches behind that Racing truck in the last series... Even more incredibly it was achieved riding on sand!
Fair fucks to Guy you know, I thought it was going to be a proper damp squib but he clearly impressed everyone at the salt flats and was let down by technical issues rather than a lack of talent/experience. If you haven’t seen it I recommend getting it on catch up asap. It looks fucking petrifying. Hope they go again.
i watched closer to the edge this weekend... respect to anyone that takes on the IOM TT! i generally steer clear of TV but this guy chap is quite a change from the usual dross... he also likes to shun celebrity limelight (allegedly)
Thoroughly enjoyed that, as I have done all the others. First class TV, couldn't be better. " Run out of tea bags, we need to get more tea bags" Hilarious.
I agree. There's generally not much quality telly in my opinion these days. This however was great, I like Guy and he always comes across as a decent down to earth bloke. The transit van speed record was another good one too
I really like Guy, read his books & watched him on TV etc. He obviously has bags of talent with anything involving an engine but why do you think he has never won the TT ? - just thought I'd put it out there!
I enjoyed last night's and the van one but the air balloon and hydrofoil were a but disappointing. Although it was refreshing to watch a programme where they didn't win! I'd like to have seen more about the technical side of the triumph bike. There's so much that was glossed over about the machine itself
Because he's not as fast as the competition? That's no slight on Guy, more a reflection on the talent it takes to win a TT. I'm sure if you asked him he'd come to the same conclusion rather than blame the tools at his disposal.
What a lot of people forget is that despite him not winning a tt I'm pretty sure he's actually one of, if not THE most successful road racer not to win one. He's won many of the other road races.. sometimes year after year.. in fact he was often considered the man to beat at the likes of the southern 100 and Ulster etc. Pretty sure he's smashed the north west a few times as well.
