Speeding Fine - Usa California

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by AirCon, Nov 28, 2017.

  1. I've a "friend" who got caught speeding in California and had a ticket for just 5 mph over the limit.
The fine is reasonable, but the extra's add another $237.

My "friend" is considering ignoring this fine.
Has anyone else followed my friends route with a recent USA speeding fine?

Would they chase it in the UK?
I would assume He'd be in trouble should he get caught again in California, but what about other states?

  2. If he doesn't pay it'll appear the next time he hits US soil if he's given over the correct details that can be linked to his passport.

  5. My friends passport was not supplied as I understand it was buried deep in his language and it was raining at the time of the stop. Mr. CHIPS didn't want to get that wet.

  14. The advice to your "friend" may depend on whether he intends to return to the state of California and to drive there again.
If the answer to either of these is no then he may be safe to ignore said fine, if he ever hopes to visit Hollywood again then he is probably best served paying up, or risking arrest and experiencing the male version of "Orange is the New Black" which probably has fewer Lesbian scenes but just as much graphic sex. The phrase "here fishy fishy" may become part of your his nightmares for years to come.
On the plus side if they ever want to do a remake of "Cool Hand Luke" you he could get a part as an extra.

  15. Any personal information given to the officer that can be tied in to the ESTA or any future ESTA application, could result in any future entry to the US being refused. If a hire car was being used, that outcome is virtually a certainty. When I periodically worked in the US on a full visa, I had a parking violation in California that almost got me the sack because it's classed as a misdemeanor. Andy

  16. 12 years ago some of my friends were caught speeding in Oregon the day before they were due to fly home. The fine totalled up to $940 all in. They ignored it :)

    :)

  17. Another Friend of mine did something similar about 20 years ago,
    "118mph on my highway"....
Sorry it would have been faster, but that's all this 5000cc of USA crap will do.
Back then it was $485. "He" was told if he was a US citizen he'd be in jail until the court house opened.
On that occasion my friend ignored it, but computers and databases have got a whole lot better since then.
