Speeding Query

  1. Hi,

bit of a pickle - received a few notice of intended prosection letters dated August(I moved to different address too so family gave me these letters) on a bike I no longer owned from 2014.

It was a bike I owned from new and px against a race bike with a dealer that had a race team. I have subsequently sold the race bike which had all receipts etc in 2015 so I literally have nothing to show that I no longer have this bike.

The dealer in question has folded (typical) and even if it was stilla round - was probably a bit dodgy since it took me a while to actually get the v5 for the one I px'd for.

Seeing as I am past the 14/28 day response period - and still searching for concrete evidence to show me px the bike - what are the best next steps with the info I have?

I obviously intend to reply with a letter stating the facts, and to notify DVLA but just wondering what options or if any one has experienced similar as don't have any evidence from before?

  2. if you had sent off V5 for bike in question as per DVLA guidelines then they should have it on record that you sent it in. I think I would phone DVLA and try and verify this for starters. By above post i'm guessing that you trusted dealer to send it in though.

  3. Can you provide proof that you no longer own the bike in question via insurance records?

  4. The police will have pics of the bike & rider if it was done with a speed cam. It will also be timed and dated.

Can you prove you were not in the area? Same date time etc you using a Debit card in Harrow, whilst speed cam was in Guildford for example?

    Goodluck!

  5. Check the registration on the DVLA web site MOT checker - has it been MOT'd? If so there will be record of the MOT station and a receipt on record I would imagine  Also if it has been taxed would show who taxed it...

  6. Pose the question on Pepipoo website. Well worth your trouble! I know what I think the answer is but they are the experts!

  7. Thread moved

  8. if its still fairly local to you i would go in and actually speak to someone. Try and get a name from that dept and book an appointment with them.

  9. Did you get the letter from dvla that you are no longer the registered keeper?

  10. A guy at work got one for his Transit he had just bought a few months ago, the picture was of a Ford Fiesta in London - could be a plate swap anyway? But it looks like the vehicle is still registered in your name which you need to sort quickly. Have you got a photo yet?
