Sport Classic Chain Adjustment On Abba Stand

Discussion in 'Sport Classic' started by bigredduke, Apr 21, 2023.

  1. I appreciate that in common with other models without a centre stand, the correct chain tension is usually adjusted with the bike on the side stand. I’m sure I’m not the only one that finds this a PITA. Finding the tight spot & then adjusting correctly on the side stand is less convenient than it should be, especially with the bike leaning over on the chain side. I currently have the bike on an abba stand on a bike lift after new tyre fitment. It would be much easier to work with the bike at a higher level and much easier to rotate the rear wheel to find the tight spot in the first place. So, my question is, is there a measurement for the correct amount of chain slack when the rear is not under load on the side stand? Surely there must be a way to calculate this?

  2. Good question! Look forward to the replies.

  3. Maybe go through the pain of adjusting it correctly on the side stand, then mount on the Abba stand and measure?
