Sport Classic Tank

Discussion in 'Sport Classic' started by The Royal Maharaja, Jul 4, 2020.

  1. Hi, still in planning for a cafe racer build, based upon a 900ss ie...

Can anyone tell me if the 1000 tanks (not GT) are steel or plastic?

    Thanks so much!
    Grant

(if anyone has a knackered one they don't mind offloading I could be interested- thx)

  4. AFAIK all Sport Classics have plastic tanks. If you Google 'Sport Classic tanks & ethanol in fuel' (U.S.), you should find information relating to reports of plastic SC tanks warping after use of higher concentrations of ethanol in petrol.

  5. Here’s a pic the guy that made the alloy tank recently for my monster sent me to highlight his work fitted to a sport classic. Both tank and tail unit are alloy fabricated by him.

  6. NICE WORK!!:upyeah:

  7. That’s nice. I think the OP was asking about the original tanks fitted from the factory, but that alloy tank is a nice option if anyone wants to future proof against petrol with higher ethanol content.
