Sprocket size for a track biased 748R ?

  1. So the standard front/rear sprockets are 15/36 and I am interested in hearing what others are running or have run on the track. My bike will have a Factory magnesium alloy race swing arm fitted and I'm guessing that getting the right number of links in the chain with the longer swing arm can be helped or hindered by the choice of sprocket size. I'm not a fan of the longer circuits like Brands GP, Donington or Silverstone so I'm looking more for responsive acceleration out of the corners than high straight line speed. I have an AFAM quick change rear sprocket hanger so would prefer in the first instance to only change the rear sprocket but the benefit of the experience of the collective would be much appreciated. Thanks, Andy

  2. 96 link chain with the longer swingarm. Rear sprockets personal preference to how you riding each track. Get a 37 and a 38 to start.

    info for normal swingarm

  3. Most seem to drop one on the front on every bike on track as a starter

  4. Stock gearing on the R is 14/36..... The BP and S ran a 38 rear but still a 14 front.
i found running 15/39 (pretty much stock) good for road/longer tracks and then simply dropping back to a 14 for the shorter ones just about right. That way no need change chain length and caused very little change to rear ride height.

  5. Hi Nelly, I haven't checked what is actually fitted to the bike but my owner's manual states a 15 tooth front sprocket. I'm in the middle of making a racing loom so I'll check in the morning. Andy

  6. I use a 37 on the back of my 748R engined 748S.
