Once on the move my ST2 rides great but is not happy pulling away from a standstill. Too many revs and it produces a high-pitch whine and too few revs and it tries to shake itself to bits before stalling. Getting the clutch/revs just right (about once every five attempts) allows you to pull away veeeery slooowly but with no other drama. I have replaced the plugs, checked the tank and fuel filter both clean. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.
Start by taking your clutch apart. Check condition and thickness of friction plates. https://www.avantiraceparts.co.uk/page.php?id=14. If all OK then clean with brake cleaner and use Scotchbrite on metal plates. Reassemble. If not OK then replace friction plates.
as above, plus - you've probably already done it, but check chain, chain slack and sprockets are all ok.
Post #62 in this thread may help as well https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/recommission-my-first-ducati.84225/page-4#post-1829501 it does sound like a transmission issue more than anything else and I’d err towards the clutch needing a good service.
