I've recently worked on my (stock) exhaust - the end caps are fixed with stainless pop rivets. I killed one pop rivet gun (loaned cheapo) and then bought a better one from Screwfix (Stanlet 6-MR100 All Ateel Riveter Contract Grade). This worked, but was impossibly hard to squeeze to the break point. I'm not puny, it needed serious squeezing of the handles. Also, the shape of the tool meant that I couldn't place the third (of 3) rivet, which wouldn't fit with the size of the riveter 'bit'. Now, I want to refurbish my Termi (and I'd like to place that last rivet)... So - are the scissor-action riveters easier/ better to use on stainless? Do they have a finer 'bit'? Do they need less brute strength? Or is there a better way? Or should I pay someone to do the riveting with an air or hydraulic tool? Thanks, wise and experienced fettlers! Nick
The scissor action riveters are easier to use and need less brute strength. Most, if not all, riveters come with alternative nozzles or bits.
