Steering Lock Stop

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by BrianST4, Nov 28, 2015.

  1. 2001 ST4 - When turning on maximum left lock my front brake lever contacts the fairing (a certain MOT failure - and not nice in a tight situation). I can't find any 'lock stops' anywhere or any adjustment. Looking at the parts list is not very helpful as the nuts and bolts are shown but not their purpose.

Anybody had a similar problem or know how to overcome it??

    Any help gratefully received.

    Thanks

  2. Have a look at the rear of the bottom yoke and you should see what looks like a grub screw with a locknut, one on each side. Lengthen the grub screw to restrict the lock.
I assume that you have risers fitted.

  3. Thanks for that. No risers fitted, not long had bike and assume it's just been badly set up??
When I looked at the parts book I found a 'special screw' (part no. 779.1.099.1A) which looked like it might do the job and looks just like what you're describing, I'll have a proper look when I have time to deal with it but thanks very much for the info.
